| Hot on the heels of his acclaimed debut, The ‘Clubber’s Paradise’ EP for Ghost Recs, DJ Pipe launches his own Global North imprint with another varied and dynamic four-tracker for your turntable. “Sunrise Fiction” sets the tone for the EP, with Pipe employing his signature sound-palette of tumbling congas, chunky sub bass and FM synth chimes. A2’s “Fragile Transit” may be familiar to listeners of a certain recent Truly Madly mix – house organs and filtered sax ascend into orbit before being washed away by blissed-out stabs. Properly versatile gear for the warm-up, main slot or crack-on. Over on the flip, “Gallery Showcase” takes things darker via maximum bass-weight, whispered vocal snatches and abundance of swing, while “Touchstone (Alright)” rounds out the EP in atmospheric fashion with shimmering strings, echoed finger-snaps and its cascading main riff: a late-night odyssey into the deepest realms of house. |
